Perfect in every way except this little soap dish is not porcelain. The dish arrived with a chip in the black rim. Before I realized it was a chip I scraped the spot hoping it would come off. The dish material under the glaze is soft and chalky. The glaze itself is thin and rough not glassy. Real porcelain is very hard and durable and this dish is neither. I will be using this dish for hand soap so I will keep it. I wouldn't use it for keys or change. I used a black marker to cover the chip followed by a drop of clear nail polish and its good as new.
This little dish was heavier than I expected and very well made. It is quite shallow, but it will hold soap, a small set of keys or a handful of coins easily. We bought it for a family friend who opened her home to us while we were attending an out of town funeral. I noticed that she collected "H's", and I really hope she likes it!
