ZACK 20651 NOMO kitchen roll holder with vacuum base

ZACK 20651 NOMO kitchen roll holder with vacuum baseAfter 5 or 6 paper towel holders, most recently the ZACK 20702 ADEO kitchen roll holder that just didn't suit my needs (explination below), and before that the Lifetime Brands 4536AS Stainless Steel Perfect Tear Paper Towel Holder that lasted Maybe a year, I'd begun to loose hope that MY perfect paper towel holder existed. First a word about Zack products. If you are mechanically inclined, you can tell simply by examing their products that they use only the best materials and put a lot of thought into how the products are constructed. Case in point, the Zack paper towel holder mentioned above is, I think, a marvel of engineering. It assembles simply, ingeniously, and is built to last forever (all components are solid stainless). However, it is way too tippy for me, requiring two handed operation and is not suited for use with the larger rolls of paper towels.

So with some trepidation, I ordered this paper towel holder. I suppose you're asking; Who in their right mind would spend over $100 on a paper towel holder? A couple of points prompted me to at least look at 'cost no object' products; 1) I'm ired of replacing things that are planned to wear out...that's just not right. 2) Nothing out there seemed to work well, or had some sort of limitation.

In my opinion, this product is not worth the asking price. Having said that, I am once again, amazed at the degree of engineering design that went into this Zack product. The parts fit together like hand in glove, The function is flawless, and with care it will last forever. The product from start to finish was designed to be adjustable to whatever size of paper towel you are using. It accommodates anything smaller than and up to an 11" tall roll and the flapper arm adjusts in and out 'automatically' to the shrinking size of the roll as it is being used. The foot print is essentially no bigger than a large paper towel roll and in my smallish kitchen that's perfect. And it Doesn't Move! You can can yank paper towels out of it all day and this thing stays glued to the counter. Under the SS base is a vacum mechanism that is unique. The rubber gasket it sits on is made out of some sort of material (neoprene?) that feels slightly tacky to the touch, though it is not sticky....it just molds well to any non porous surface. Once in place (cause it's not going to go anywhere), grab hold of the base with both hands and rotate it until you get a satisfying snap. While the whole unit is relatively light in weight compared to holders with 'weighted bases' this thing is welded to the the counter.

Yes, I'm glad I bought and tried it if only to write this review for you. And yes, I'm keeping it. No I don't work or Zack or any of its' affliates :)
