No, really. Before you purchase this, find one of your dish towels and a standard piece of 8.5x11" paper. Fold your towel in half and compare it to the short edge of the paper. If the folded towel is longer than the short edge of the paper, this isn't the stand for you. 8.5" is the clearance of the bar *without* the included scrubber. Personally, I've never seen a dish cloth as short as the one in the photo.

If you're the lucky owner of a set of midget towels and decide to purchase this anyway, you're still in for some trouble. The bar may be steel, but the base is hollow and has very little weight to it. Don't take my word for it look at the shipping weight. Pulling a cloth off the bar will knock this over most every time unless you lift directly upward. Even if you perfect this towel removal ritual, the light-weight top-heavy towel-laden dishcloth stand will dance off the back of your sink if your in-sink garbage disposal vibrates even a little. You'll be nudging this back in place constantly if you catch it before it dives into the sink.

I was bit of disappointed because I did not expect it to be this small. The dishcloth in the picture looks big, but when I hung mine, it didn't fit.

If it's bigger, it would be perfect.

I bought this after a roommate squabble: He kept complaining about my keeping a dishrag over the middle of the sink and I kept complaining about him using paper towels to wipe things down post-munching.

This little do-hicky was our compromise. It does the job just fine: it's compact enough to not really be noticeable, my dishrag doesn't get gross from sitting at the bottom of the sink, and my sponge has a perch.

My only complaints: it seems to hard water stains or soap scum and the scrubby that comes with it is junky (meh...whatever...not a big deal). By this I don't mean it's rusty (no rust what-so-ever) but, rather, that there's a white ring around where my sponge sits on the base -I'm able to scrub it off with a little non-abrasive cleanser periodically. I assume this ring appears because there is no drainage on the base (you know, like those soap dishes with the raised tray). This is just overlooked in the design and is something Umbra could improve upon in the future.

But, as I said, it does its job --and it was relatively inexpensive to boot. Thanks for preventing roommate squabbles, Umbra!

I use this by my sink as a cute little way to hand our dish cloth we use to wash dishes with, so it can dry completely and I don't have to hang it on the faucet. It does fall over easiy if you're moving fast but overall it works as intended. Nice stainless steel look and it should fit the average dish cloth. A dish towel however would be too big.
