I was pleasantly surprised at the good quality of this product. The beads were large and would be easy to handle for someone elderly or with shaky hand. The clips were sturdy and did not appear cheap-looking. Length was plenty long enough even for my large neck. Great product over all. Clips were even large enough to hold a towel, if need be, instead of just a paper napkin.

This is great for restaurant use. Cuts down on laundry and saves a very good tie when they are required.

This two-pack of napkin clips and chains is best remembered from the dentist's office but, today, the devices are having a vigorous renewed life to help older people with issues like hand tremors or deteriorating coordination to protect clothing while eating. I 'sprung' for these items as a solution to one of my pet peeves with travel meals: the airline napkins won't stay put where I feel they are needed. When I travel, I do so for extended periods and convenient laundry service is most often not available for the short-stay traveller. I decided to 'corral' the elusive napkin and keep it in place to protect against spills and crumbs. It works very well, just like it did at the dentist's. The links are just as strong as they need to be to hold a large cloth napkin and the springs work just that well, too.

What doesn't work so well is the assembly of the product, which is of variable quality. I have had to use needle nose pliers and a small regular set of pliers to securely reattach the chain section to the clip section of one end of each of the holders I purchased. Other reviewers have noted the same manufacturing problem without mentioning the solution--which is simple if one has the common tools, good eyesight and steady hands. These may be in short supply among us older persons but most of us will know someone who can do the job in about two minutes per chain. Of course, this is less than satisfactory in a product but once fixed the device works well and the fix holds.

My wife is less-well pleased when I haul this rig out at a restaurant. I feel 'if it works, it's beautiful.' I'm easily tired of seeing a favorite tie or shirt ruined by spaghetti or pizza sauce and the like and bending down to pick up a fallen napkin, now somewhere under the table, is no fun either.
