After using it, toss the napkin and put the clips back into your pocket until next time. My idea was to put this in my purse to have while eating in restaurants so my husband would not drop food onto his shirt which usually happens in a restaurant. So far I have only used it once, in the house, and it worked fine with a dishtowel. Good quality and sturdy.
