Norpro Stainless Steel Towel Holder With Suction Base

I like the style and design of this holder, however, the suction mount has not worked for me at all. I am using it on marble, so I thought it would do as well as possible. When I first fasten it (which is very easy to do, by the way) it sticks like mad. About 10 minutes later, it's unstuck. I've tried a few things I have read about on line, various topical treatments, etc. but nothing has done the trick for me. I am still using it and like it just fine, but I am giving it three stars primarily because it doesn't do for me one of the two things it claims to do (holding towels and sticking to the counter top).

Of course, I seldom find suction mounting items that work as well as I wish they would. But that's no excuse. In all honesty, unless the suction is an absolute must have for you, I would still recommend the product. I really wanted it to work, but I am happy enough without it.

I thought that between the arm and the suction, one-handed operation would be a no-brainer, but that's not really the case. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It comes down to technique. More often than not though, I either end up tearing off more towels than I wanted, or they tear before traveling beneath the arm.

I found the suction worked extraordinarily well on my cheap counter tops though, and definitely exceeded my expectations in that department. The suction is activated by twisting the knob at the top of the dispenser, which is kind of a neat touch.

It looks great, and is very well-made, but it doesn't really solve the one-handed operation problem as well as I had hoped.
